about

!Organism offer up a techno shaped Christmas present on Boxing Day this year with a new EP from Chain featuring three originals and a remix from Mental Resonance.

Chain is a Swedish techno duo made up of Andres Hellberg and Johannes but based in Berlin. They play a hardware only modular live set and release on Planet Rhythm and Nachtstrom Schallplatten amongst others. Their inventive rhythms and analogue textures carry over into the studio and result in truly arresting techno.

Opener 'Temple of Ice' is a dark passage of droning synths with no drums. Filters add sweeping effects that lift you up into the stars where you're joined by more spacey pads. The result is that you feel weightless and adrift. Buenos Aires artist and Polegroup and Mindtrip associate Mental Resonance aka Guido Camino then offers an excellent remix. His version is slick and quick, with relentless drums and twisted synths drilling in throughout. It's music to lose your mind to.

Chain then serve up 'Relief', which has thudding drums down low and skittish synth lines surfing along up top. It's an elongated groover that takes you way down the rabbit hole. Last of all, 'Cell Control' is a white knuckle ride with slamming drums and sizzling synths that spray about with real fizz. It's one that burrows deep into your brain and ends the EP on a high.

With this EP !Organism end the year in the only way they know how - with high octane techno.
