about

The unstoppable techno powerhouse that is Swiss label !Organism is back with more goodies, this time from Subjects complete with a remix from Frankyeffe.

Subjects is an Italian partnership between Max D-Loved and Jeffrey Hide and has been since the pair hooked up in 2013. Their combination of old hardware and new plug ins has lead to some exciting music released on labels like Octopus, Toolroom, Intacto and many others and this EP for !Organism proves their talents once again.

Up first is ‘Drywet’, a teeth clenching foot stomping roller with percussion peeling off a firmly entrenched layer of kick drums. Male voices add a sense of uneasiness and icy hi hat ringlets drive things along nicely. Remixer Frankyeffe has been producing since the early part of the century on labels like Analytic Trail, Phobiq and Kombination. His version of ‘Drywet’ strips some of the sense of paranoia and simply rolls on and on with a rising chord sound elevating you and the track to another level entirely. It’s engaging, hypnotic stuff that takes no prisoners.

‘Viper’ is another no frills tough techno affair with dubby chords, whip snapping hooks and cantering percussion that really sweep you off your feet.

Last but not least, ‘Destruction Derby’ is another fulsome and barrelling cut with tunnelling drums and warbling synth lines. Industrial effects and rattling percussion bring a sense of chaos reflected in the tracks title and minds will surely be blown when this one is dropped in a dark club.

This is searing, no messing techno from Subjects and is sure to soundtrack many a warehouse session in the coming months.

Since then the Swiss imprint has played host to a slew of the genres most prized producers, including the likes of Perc, Cari Lekebusch, Hans Bouffmyhre, Jerome Sydenham, Audio Injection. ... more
