about

Swiss label !Organism is all about offering the finest tunnel vision techno, something at which Nick Bowman & Elzo excel. As such they have been enlisted for a new EP complete with remixes from Tom Laws and Ray Kajioka. Between them Brits Bowman & Elzo have a fine reputation as DJs playing places like Ministry of Sound, EGG and various other boat and warehouse parties around London.

Warehouses are the perfect setting of their music as exemplified by the rolling kicks, gusts of tension and heady hypnosis of first cut ‘Led Astray’. It’s planed smooth and frictionless and rolls beneath sporadic searching synths as if the apocalypse is nigh.

Respekt and Sleaze records man Tom Laws then turns in two remixes – the first is his Hard Groove mix, a grumbling and groaning techno train that rattles the very earth you stand on it’s so heavyweight, whilst the second classic mix is just that, cantering at a speedy pace and with old school chord stabs and claps all piled up on top of each other for maximum destruction.

Nick Bowman’s ‘Cynical Mind’ is a muscular rhythm built from bulky loops of rusted percussion, firmly rooted drums and slivery hi hats that builds and builds to a peak that explodes with dark energy when it finally comes.

Closing things out is a remix from recent Cocoon Compilation M man Ray Kajioka. The German has been a fine techno exponent on labels like Kanzleramt Music and Rotation Records right back to the 90s and shows his credentials on this doom laden, dubbed out but ever so imposing stomper once more.

Along with the likes of Drumcode and CLR, !Organism is one of the purest techno labels out there as this EP proves.
