about

Swiss label !Organism look to essential French techno tastemakers LowKey & Kardinal for their next track, and serve it up with searing remixes from the boss Yan Stricker as well as Kalden Bess and a second version of his own work by Kardinal.

LowKey & Kardinal have been at the top of their game for more than a decade. They have received constant support from the likes of Umek, Adam Beyer and Secret Cinema for their work, and have releeased on Phobiq, Analytical Trail, Inlab and many more assured labels. As able to craft compelling full lengths as they are to-the-point and effective 12”s, this duo has many tricks up it’s sleeve, and this EP is testament to that.

Their massive original track, 'State of Hype,’ is eight minutes of nerve jangling, sense tingling techno with dark vocals up top, plumes of airy white noise and spaced-out synths all coming together in intense fashion. Building to a peak before kicking once more, it is an epic, room-filling track that grabs your attention then runs with it.

The Frenchman, who also runs Goog Records, then remixes solo and does so with a much darker, moodier, more macho style. The kicks are rock solid, sirens search in paranoid fashion and the hi hats make for itchy patterns that really drive things along.

Ground factory label boss Kalden Bess has been making moves since 2008. His techno sets and tracks have found him playing with the likes of Richie Hawtin and Sasha and his style, in his words, is ‘dirty and sexy.’ His remix is a playful, funky affair with a fine arpeggiated bass line riding up and down as big steel hits reverb to nothing. It is a chunky techno groove that stays true to his own style.

Finally, Yan Stricker, the boss of the !Organism empire and himself a techno veteran, offers his take on the cut and the results are fantastically urgent, tense and hypnotic with rooted drums and abstract, wordless human sounds adding a freaky edge to proceedings.
