As !Organism hurtles towards 100 techno releases at an impressive rate, they stop off in Belarus for a new EP from Gene Karz featuring two brilliant bangers and fine remix from [Wex 10].

Karz has only been active since 2008, but his hard techno style has shot him to the top of the pile. He is one of the most famous techno exports from his native Belarus and releases on this label as well as many other acclaimed outlets. Once again here we find him in fine form across both hot new tracks.

‘Summer Story’ is the sort of white knuckle techno ride that has dance floors marching as one big pack of mutants. Firm kicks, rumbling synths and cloudy skies all make for an oppressive atmosphere that comes alive when the drums start to get more lumpy and loose. It’s a perfectly explosive track, to be sure.

Remixing is Naked Lunch man [Wex 10], and he flips the track into a more stripped back and subtle affair that creeps up on you slowly but surely. The drums are flappy, swooshes of white noises add a real rush to the track and overall it’s a fine bit of work.

‘Arena’ is the other original and this one is even more intense, with rave sirens, search light like pads and drunken riffs all making for a dark vibe and heavy groove. It’s one for the dead of night and rounds out an excellent EP that isn’t for the feint of heart!
